photographing claremont - the houses

a california trip wouldn't be complete without photographing claremont. there's no way to memorize the neighborhood. it constantly changes. the houses have been there for ages, yet every time i visit, they seem so different. the windows are not covered with window treatments. they are left uncovered as windows should be. the character is unreal. steep gables. woodwork. stained glass. arches. front doors that have been opened and closed for years. history that cannot be duplicated.

my dream neighborhood.

the sidewalks are perfectly imperfect. they are crooked and cracked. they are covered with leaves. arched with shrubbery. the streets are tree lined. mature trees with rich beauty. front doors with wreaths. porches with rockers and little side tables for placing a book. gardens organically arranged. shaded front yards perfect for an afternoon picnic. picket fences leading to gardens.

if i could move anywhere...
