these kids of mine are obsessed with science experiments. so i pulled out a book i found with simple science experiments and we learned about osmosis.
a ruler. two cups of water.
and gummy bears.
first predict. when the gummy bear is left in a cup of water overnight. will it get bigger, smaller or remain the same size?
measure the gummy bear. trace the size of the candy.
drop the gummy in a cup of water.
and watch it grow.
it does indeed grow bigger overnight. we left ours in the water a little too long and ended up with gummy mush.
and finally explain why the gummy grows and the process of osmosis.
