closing of summer

school is in session. the weather is turning. and i have the travel bug. there's nothing i can do about either. i get this way from time to time. not too long ago, someone asked how we ended up in texas. i gave our story, which seems to amaze me each time i tell it. it amazes me because i never thought i'd have the nerve to do something like that. to pick up and move to a new place, not because of a job, not because of family ties, but because of an idea. it's empowering quiet honestly. and i'd do it again in a heartbeat.

well, this travel bug within me makes me feel landlocked. i am yearning for the coast. so as i browsed through iphoto tonight, i found some of the random everyday snapshots from this past summer.

we had a blast living. from jumping in the most amazing pool in my parents backyard to driving through downtown claremont and noticing the volkswagons that scream california. from afternoon walks to preparing our minds for kindergarten and playing and laughing and smiling with grandparents.

grandma will be arriving soon for a visit. i just wish she could bring the coast with her.
