Pizza Pizza

Do you remember my new years resolutions. Well, one of them was to lose my baby weight. When I say baby weight, I mean baby Eli weight AND baby Emma weight. I'm not a believer in diets. Yes, I'm sure they work but I don't think they teach you healthy eating. I am a believer in healthy eating habits and exercising.

David and I are in this together. David is super hard core, especially with exercising. Me on the other hand, there are days when I do not complete a scheduled exercising time because I consider my afternoon walks with the kids, my hours gardening and the million steps I walk cleaning the house and chasing after the kids, my exercise for the day. So far it's worked, I've lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks!

Here's how we've changed our eating habits.
Limit, really limiting white flour. We replace it with whole wheat
Limiting sugar
Dessert for us is a fruit smoothie with only natural sugars.
Seriously, when David makes it it tastes like shorbet
Eating massive amounts of fruits and veggies

We only eat out one time a week, great on the budget, so I've been cooking A LOT. So many new recipes to share with you. Here's one...

Amazing Whole Wheat Pizza Crust
(so much better than going out for pizza)
2 teaspoons sugar
1-1/2 cups warm water
1 tablespoon dry active yeast
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
(You can substitute using all whole wheat flour. I tried it once but the dough was really dense. We prefer it this way)
In a large bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water.
Add yeast, wait 10 minutes.
Stir in olive oil and salt into yeast mixture.
Mix in whole wheat flour and all-purpose flour until dough starts to come together.
Tip dough onto floured surface. Knead until all the flour is adsorbed and dough becomes smooth.
Place in oiled bowl, cover loosely with towel, place in warm location until dough has doubled, about 1 hour.
When dough has doubled, tip onto floured surface.
Divide dough in half, place in two oiled bowls until dough has doubled again, about 45 minutes.
Preheat oven at 425 degrees.
Stretch and roll dough on oiled pizza stone.
Add your favorite toppings.
Bake ~15 minutes.
Enjoy

We usually do a veggie pizza.
Pesto
Spinach
Mozzarella cheese
Tomatoes
Bell Peppers
Olives

That is great!!!! I'm still trying to lose the baby weight, and Ava will be two in a month. I need to lose like 15 more pounds. I will have to try what you are doing. That is so great, and the pizza looks yummy.

We've made the same changes like you guys and we have never felt better. It all started with an Oprah show on health a few years back. Of course we still have the occasional junk food but we love eating healthier.

I will have to try out that new pizza crust recipe. It looks delicious.
