four years

this is what i woke up to this morning

four years ago this month we landed in texas. we had 14 days to find a house. we were homeless. sold and packed up our california home a few weeks earlier and squeezed into my parents guest room with 9 month old eli. everything we owned was packed in storage, the size of a single car garage.

we landed in texas and i had no idea what to expect. i thought i would stick out like mad. thought all the women would be blonde. thought all the men would be wearing cowboy hats with big belt buckles. i had lived in a california bubble for 27 years.

we landed and i was surprised. we got lost on the highway. we drove between dallas and fort worth and somehow found this home. a sweet home we instantly made our own.

making this move was the hardest thing i've ever had to do. i left everything that was familiar to me. we left our history. we left all our family.

it hasn't been an easy four years. but it's been good.
