what do you do with a stack of wooden blocks, a can of chalkboard paint and a 5 year old boy learning to read?
you make blends blocks (try to say that 5 times in a row).
i had a stack of wooden blocks left over from a previous craft, a can of chalkboard spray paint and an idea.
at barn school eli has been learning to read. his teacher emphasized the importance of eli learning his blends. it's amazing. overnight something clicked and eli is reading. the blocks work great because i can start with the blend and just add another block or two after to complete the word. for a boy who loves building and stacking, the blends blocks are just up his alley.
